Shocking headlines were seen on newsfeeds for football supporters in Turkey. It was revealed that law enforcement had taken a retired footballer into custody, which followed after that individual confessed to murdering his son, who was only five at the time. He committed this horrendous act when Cevher Toktas saw his son sharing symptoms to COVID-19. When the hospital couldn’t confirm the infection, Cevher suffocated this child with a pillow. Kasim Toktas was murdered by his father on May 4th. Law enforcement noted that Cevher didn’t appear to have any remorse towards the events. Those who supported this footballer during his professional career are shocked by this announcement.
Turkish Investigators weren’t suspecting of Cevher Toktas with the death of his son. Law enforcement didn’t believe the death to be suspicious, even after the autopsy showed COVID-19 wasn’t in his body. Kasim Toktas instead had a minor case of influenza, which could’ve been solved with essential antibiotics.
Haber Turk Television was the 1st news outlet to provide insight onto Cevher Toktas confessing to the murdering of Kasim Toktas. Turkish Civilians were aware of this name immediately, with this killer holding a position with Hacettepe FC in the Turkish Super League between the 2007-09 seasons. Insiders with this football club revealed that predisposed anger shown by Cevher prompted his removal from this squad. That’s why Cevher plays for Bursa Yildirimspor, an Amateur Team below the Super League.
When police questioned Toktas on why he murdered Karim, without the slightest bit of emotions, he expressed that it’s because he didn’t love his son & doesn’t feel any remorse. Family & Friends connected to Cevher have expressed their complete disgust, with some genuinely getting sick on live television. This former football has been expelled from Bursa Yildirimspor and is now considered the most infamous killer in Turkey’s recent history.
An official trial date for Cevher Toktas hasn’t been released by Turkish Law Enforcement. However, his actions were recorded by video equipment within the hospital. Behaviour not consistent with someone who just lost their child will be used to enforce longer sentencing. However, since he admitted to this murder, prison time is inevitable.
